Week 6 Fantasy Avengers
Week 6 is a do a or die week for a lot of owners, myself included. For several owners out there you may be staring at a 1-4 or god forbid a 0-5 start. This week acts like a playoff game for a lot teams, if you don't get the win this week, the road to the playoffs will become treacherous and nearly insurmountable. In order to get the win, you need to make the correct calls in nearly all your positions and you will also need a little luck. The week 6 fantasy Avengers are here to try and help you make the right call by placing them into your line up. As always there is TL;DR at the bottom of the article.
Andy Dalton (Fantasy Pros Rank 16)
Andy Dalton already has a kick ass super hero name in the Red Rifle, but this week he will be taking on the mantle of Captain America. Dalton is no stranger to fantasy football success, back in his early days as a Bengal, he was able to post low-end QB1 high-end QB2 numbers. He was able to do that in arguably a worse offense. Entering week 6 Dalton will be throwing to three elite receivers in Cooper, Lamb, and Gallup, while also having the best running back he has ever worked with coming out of the backfield. Through week 5 The Dallas Cowboys offense ranks as the number two overall in fantasy football. While the offense is a huge part of that ranking, the Cowboys defense has been hemorrhaging points to opposing offenses, which means the Cowboys are always looking to score. Dalton looked great as Dak's replacement in last weeks match up vs the Giants. He was hitting clutch throws to Ceedee lamb down the stretch, which ultimately lead to the Cowboys hitting a last second field goal to win the game. This week Dalton will be facing the Cardinals and has a real opportunity to pick up right where he left off. The Cardinals offense has the ability to score at will, but also has a defense that is very beatable. Look to Dalton to be your week 6 Captain America.
Antonio Gibson (Fantasy Pros Rank # 18)
Gibson has been an electric, one touch player dating all the way back to his days at Memphis. When Gibson gets the ball in space he presents a real opportunity for a Washington Football team touchdown. Each week Gibson has seen an average of 11 running back touches per game, but more importantly he has seen his running back targets increase each and every week, which is where Gibson can do real damage to opposing defenses. Last week, Gibson looked like another strong start with Kyle Allen under center as he received 3 targets from the back up quarterback and a handful of carries. Unfortunately Gibsons' role was reduced once Allen got knocked out of the game and the comeback kid himself, Alex Smith entered. When Alex Smith took the field, the Washington Football Team also made the switch to back up running back J.D. Mckissic. While Gibson's second half usage can be seen as concerning, I am chalking it up to the Washington coaching staff wanting to do everything in their power to protect their quarterback, who is coming off one of the most devastating injuries in NFL history. Mckissic is a proven pass blocker and Gibson is a rookie still learning the ins and outs of his offense. The Football team couldn't take the risk of Smith getting knocked due to a blown pass block. Luckily for Gibson and Alex Smith, Kyle Allen will be back in the starting role For week 6. In week 6 Gibson and Allen will be facing the New York Giants who rank 8th in pass rush success rate which could mean a lot of check downs for Gibson. Look to Gibson to catch lightning in a bottle and become your week 6 Thor.
Odell Beckham Jr. (Fantasy Pros Rank 19)
Odell has been quite the enigma this season. OBJ has finished as the number one overall receiver on the week while simultaneously having a week where he finished outside of the top 70. This week Odell will be facing the Pittsburgh Steelers and is presented with a wonderful opportunity to prove to not only is team, but fantasy owners alike that He. Is. Iron Man. While the Steelers boast one of the top rushing defenses in the league, their secondary has been a bit lacking. The Steelers secondary is currently giving up 12.9 yards per reception and have allowed 9 passing touchdowns. While Kareem Hunt is no slouch of a running back the Steelers defense has been able to bottle up some of the best RBs in the league. That list includes, Saquon Barkley and Miles Sanders. If the Browns have any hope of winning this game, they will need to rely on their passing game. OBJ has the ability to turn a slant route into a 65 yard touchdown and with a favorable match up the probability of a big play rises. Look to Odell Beckham to be your week 6 Iron Man.
Chris Godwin (Fantasy Pros Rank 34)
This one feels like cheating, as I consider Godwin to be one of the best receivers in the league. Godwin is a big piece in one of most explosive offenses in the leauge. Godwin turned into the Incredible Hulk on several occasions in 2019, and although he has looked a lot more like Bruce Banner this season he hasn't been on the field for most of it. Godwin has only played in two games this year and has finished inside the top 30 in both of them. Godwin has had 2 weeks to heal up from a hamstring injury and carries no injury designation going into Sundays match up vs the Packers. It looks to be as if the stars are aligning for the strongest Avenger to come back and make your opposing owners angry. In his first game with Tom Brady, Godwin led the team in receiving yards and in his second game with Brady he was second in receiving yards due to a long touchdown from Scottie Miller, however he was able to find the end zone for 6. Godwin is not only Brady's favorite target, but also his most reliable. In order for the Buccaneers to win the Battle of the Bays, Chris Godwin needs to have a good game. With Brady's accuracy and Godwin's ability to find the hole in a defense look to Chris Godwin to Hulk out in week 6.
TL;DR
Captain America: Andy Dalton (Rank 16)
Thor: Antonio Gibson (Rank 18)
Iron Man: OBJ (Rank 19)
Hulk: Chris Godwin (Rank 34)
