LOEG 2021 Keepers as described by Hollywood
This year in lieu of researching players that won't ever end up on my team, I decided to let Hollywood describe everyone's keeper going into 2021. The players are listed in the order of our draft, some quotes are better than others, but I think all of them at least have something to do with each player.
~ Travis Kelce ~
"I am inevitable"
Nothing is more inevitable than Kelce being the TE1. He has only done it 5 years in a row, and is in line to do it again. This might have been the easiest player to describe, because if there are any guarantees in life its death, taxes, and Kelce as the tight end 1.
~ Stefon Diggs ~
"You had my curiosity, now you have my attention"
We were all curious if Stefon Diggs could make it as an elite receiver, but after his year in Buffalo he now has the whole fantasy world looking at him. Diggs always had the talent and the ability to make it as a top 5 receiver, but he didn't have the right set of circumstances. Now after just one year in the Bills offense Diggs has shown that he should always be considered as one of the fantasy receiver options.
~ Jonathan Taylor ~
"Here's Johnny"
Second year running back Jonathan Taylor had a slow start to start his NFL career, but after finding his footing in the Indy offense he quickly became a dominant force. Much like Jack Torrance busting through the door in the Shining, Taylor is busting through opposing defensive lines. Taylor finished his last 5 games of the 2020 season with four out of five top ten finishes. If Carson Wentz is able to get back onto the field and the Colts offensive line holds up all year, Jonathan Taylor could be one of the scariest backs in the NFL.
~ Darren Waller ~
"I know who I am! I'm the dude playin' the dude, disguised as another dude"
After two seasons inside the top 3 at tightend, Darren Waller knows exactly who he is. He's the dude with the receiving upside of a top end receiver and the dude with the touchdown upside to single handedly win you a week. While its hard to imagine anyone surpassing Kelce as the number one tight-end, Waller will at least be wearing his best Travis Kelce disguise every Sunday.
~ Tyreek Hill ~
"I am speed"
What else is there to say about one of the most electric players in the NFL. He has the ability to take a screen pass 75 yards to the house, or blow by any cornerback on a go route. If you look up the word speed in the dictionary you will find a picture of Tyreek Hill. You could be winning your fantasy match up and in the blink of an eye be losing all due to Tyreeks speed and nose for the endzone.
~ D.K. Metcalf ~
"He's not a dude. You're a dude. This is a MAN. A handsome muscular man"
Metcalf is basically Thor as a football player. He is one of the biggest and strongest players in the league with the ability to fly over any defensive back that gets in his way. After a year two breakout D.K. is worthy of being one of the best fantasy receivers in the game. If he can build off of his success from last year, I believe that Metcalf has the chance to take the mantle as the best receiver in the game. As long as Wilson is throwing him the ball I don't see how D.K. finishes outside the top 10 at his position.
~ Antonio Gibson ~
"Well that escalated quickly, I mean that really got out of hand fast"Antonio Gibson, was a big surprise last year. He was one of the better parts of an offense that wasn't expected to do much. He scored 11 touchdowns on only 170 attempts in his rookie season and this year many fantasy analysts are calling for an even bigger season for the year two back. While I do believe Gibson in primed for a big year as the lead back, I do believe that the hype surrounding him is starting to get a little out of hand, especially with the comments of him taking on a CMC-esque role. I just hope he is able to provide consistent scoring.
~ George Kittle ~
"That's my secret Cap... I'm always angry"
George Kittle plays angry, and although it can lead to him missing time, he doesn't seem to care. After he makes a catch he turns around and starts looking for opposing defenders to run over. This strategy leads to one of the highest yards after contact totals in the league along with several touchdowns. If Kittle is able to keep his body right all year, he will be a dominating force for an offense that is looking to get back to their old scoring ways.
~ Alvin Kamara ~
"I have a very particular set of skills"
Alvin Kamara has a very particular set of skills indeed. He is one of the most efficient running backs in the game. On paper, his usage should place him as a top 20 running back, but his ability to make defenders miss and get yards on even the most broken of plays makes him a nightmare for not only NFL defenses, but fantasy opponents. He is always a threat to score two, three, or even six touchdowns a game, and when you play against him in fantasy you know that your lead is never safe. It will be interesting to see what he does without Brees, but if he can keep his efficiency up I don't see how he falls out of the top 7 running backs.
~ Justin Jefferson ~
"Look at me, I am the captain now"
With one of the best rookie seasons of all time for a receiver, Justin Jefferson is definitely the new captain of the Minnesota offense. He missed the first third of the season due to injury, but once he entered the offense he quickly took over the role of the primary receiver for the Vikings. Jefferson can do it all, and has the tools to be one of the best receivers in this league. The changing of the guard from Thielen to Jefferson happened relatively quick and there is no looking back as he looks to improve off an already stellar rookie debut.
~ Terry McLaurin ~
"People hate what they don't understand"
McLaurin is an alluring fantasy option going into the 2021 season. Each of the last two years he has shown true signs of greatness even while playing with some below average QBs. Now going into year three of his NFL career he will be playing with a true gunslinger in Ryan Fitz"magic". Just two years ago Fitzpatrick helped support a WR7 finish for the forgotten Devante Parker, and now he will be working with a younger more talented receiver in Scary Terry. People are afraid to rank McLaurin any higher this year, but if this duo is vibing all season long, we could be in for a very special year from the up and coming wideout.
~ Davante Adams ~
"I'm the guy who does his job, you must be the other guy"
Davante Adams is the clear cut wide receiver one on his team. He is so far and away better than any receiver on his team that next closest one (Robert Tonyan) isn't going until the late double digit rounds. Allen Lazard, the next closest receiver is going undrafted. With such a lack of talent, Adams ends up with the majority of the receptions and touchdowns making him one of the safest top five receivers in the league.
